Music in the kitchen should not need a whole system. The Solen is a single wooden-cased speaker that pairs with your phone in a few seconds and stays paired, so putting something on is one tap rather than a setup routine every time.
The cabinet is real wood rather than moulded plastic, which is what gives the low end some body instead of the thin sound you get from a pocket speaker. A knob on the front handles volume with a proper click, and a second one steps through the sources. There is a 3.5 mm input on the back for a turntable preamp or an older music player, and a USB port to keep a phone topped up while it plays. It runs from mains power, so it is never flat when you want it.
