Bypass blades pass each other like scissors, which gives a clean cut through green stems rather than crushing them. Rilla is sized for one hand and light enough to carry round the garden in a pocket while you deadhead, tidy and take cuttings.
The handles are coated in a soft grip that takes the pressure off your palm on a long session, and a thumb-operated lock holds the blades closed between jobs. A coil spring reopens the shears after every cut, so all you supply is the squeeze. Wipe the blades dry after use and they keep running smoothly through the season. Small enough to leave in a tool apron, sturdy enough to be the pair you actually use.
