A handheld fan that folds down to roughly the size of a phone and stands up on a desk when you unfold it. It weighs about 125g, so it genuinely does live in a bag rather than getting left at home.
The speed is a dial rather than three fixed settings, which matters more than it sounds: you can park it just below the point where you can hear it.

Worth knowing before you buy
- It moves air. It does not chill air. This is the single thing buyers get wrong about this product, and by a wide margin the most common complaint is that it does not blow cold air. It has no refrigeration and no ice compartment. Like every fan, it makes you feel cooler by moving air across your skin, and the air it moves is at room temperature. If you want something that lowers the temperature of a room, this is not it.
- Battery life scales with speed. At the low end of the dial it will last through a day out. At the top of the range it drains a great deal faster.
- It is a personal fan. Effective at arm's length, on a desk or in your hand. It will not do anything noticeable to a room.
