Food scraps end up in the main bin because the compost heap is outside and it is raining. The Ferro caddy sits on the worktop next to where you chop, so peelings and coffee grounds go straight in while you cook instead of piling up beside the board.
The lid seals against a rubber gasket and a charcoal filter sits in the underside, which keeps the smell inside between trips out to the heap. Five litres holds a few days of scraps for most households. The powder-coated steel body wipes down with a cloth, and the whole caddy goes under the tap when it needs a proper rinse. A carry handle folds flat against the lid, so it never catches on a wall cupboard.
