Worth knowing before you buy

• Size down, not up, when you read the coverage figure. The maker rates this for rooms up to 350 sq ft. The most common complaint on this product is that it does not cool anything like that area, with buyers reporting poor results in rooms half that size. Treat it as a unit for a small bedroom, a home office or a study. If you are trying to cool an open-plan space, this will disappoint you.
• It has to vent out of a window. Every portable air conditioner does. The hose has to run outside or the unit is just moving heat around the room. If your window will not take the kit, this will not work for you.
• This ships from overseas. Delivery takes noticeably longer than the rest of our catalogue, and it is a heavy item, so returns are slow and expensive for both of us. Please be confident about the room size before you order.
• Self-evaporating is not absolute. In very humid weather it can still produce water that needs draining.
