The metal frame is finished in a matte black that suits a garden wall as easily as a hallway shelf, and the glass panes keep the light from being knocked about by a breeze. A folding handle sits flat when the lantern is on a table and lifts for carrying or hanging. A switch on the base turns it on, and the bulb runs on a standard battery you can swap yourself.
