A desk lamp does not have to look like office equipment. The Aldon has a ribbed ceramic base and a linen shade, so it sits as comfortably on a hallway console or a bedside table as it does next to a laptop.
The ceramic gives it enough weight to stay put when you reach past it for a notebook, and the ribbing picks up the light along the base. The shade throws a warm pool downward onto the desk rather than out into your eyes, which is the difference between a lamp you can work under and one you switch off after ten minutes. An inline switch on the cord means no feeling around the base in the dark. The fitting is standard, so you choose the bulb and the warmth that suits the room.
